Justice is a pansexual, genderfluid high-schooler in a world that's getting accepting, but slowly. Their parents are 'maybes' on the accepting list, as is their brother. Their fellow high-schoolers are a hard 'no', and there are many others on the invisible spectrum that you must consider when you come out.
However, when Justice comes out to their two best friends, who they thought were hard 'yes's, everything changes. They've begun their Grand Premiere, as their friend puts it. And when disaster strikes, they realize that coming out isn't the only part of the Grand Premiere that they have to get through.
Kehlani is a lesbian in a household that is not nearly as accepting as she thought it would be. When she starts her 'Grand Premiere', she thinks it's going to be easy to come out and stay out. After all, how bad can it be in this day and age?
Much, much worse than she thought, as it turns out.
When disaster strikes, Kehlani realizes that the main problem, for her, of coming out, isn't coming out. It's staying out. Staying out in a world that wants to force you back in forever.
An exciting, angsty love story about two people making it against all odds, and a story about learning to love the way you want, because Love Is Love. Rated PG-14 for cuss words.
