When Koby sees Luffy's Wanted poster and decides to say one last goodbye

"Celebrate?" "Yes!" Garp exclaims, continuing his monstrous walk past Koby. "Today marks the returns of my grandson and his no-good-crew!" He growls, but it sounds far too excited for it to sound threatening. - The Straw-Hats are back from their two-year training arc, and with this news, Koby processes well (Garp, however, does not). First fanfic I ever wrote.

Perhaps from the start, Koby had been destined to love such a terrible man. Who tugs at his heartstrings the same as he does his guitar. Doomed, just the same as Eve, who bit the apple at the gentle persistence of a snake-he, too, would devour God's holiest creations at Luffy's command. His heart stutters as the song wanes and Luffy calls out his thanks to the club, as they welcome on the next band and prepare to take their much needed rest. Koby does not miss Luffy's beckoning hand-and like a moth to a flame, a bee to a flower and a lovesick boy to his heart's greatest need, he follows. Or, Koby is an anxiety filled mess and learns that reality isn't always as complicated as he makes it.

After the Paramount War, Admiral Akainu still remembers what Koby did, and he's still angry about it. To keep his cadet safe, Garp decides to stash him away with in the last place a Marine should be- with the Straw Hat Pirates. Koby doesn't mind it. What he does mind, however, is how much torture it's turning out to be to live with the boy he's been in love with since he met him.
