Centuries after the Gaol of the Mists fades from memory and the Aragami die out, a Voda House expedition discovers a mysterious ruin in which the body of a Revenant was found seated on a massive throne with a stone statue of a female revenant at his side. Voda House scientists determine the Revenant lives in a state of constant suspended animation, a coma-like state that preserves his body and mind. Lavinia Voda, head of Voda House, has ordered this revenant to be brought to MagMell Island for "further study".

I'll do my best to keep the timeline in check, but my memory can be faulty. After death at the hands of her betrothed Josée awakes in an unfamiliar forest and must adapt to a new way of life.
