The wedding day is supposed to be the greatest day in a woman's life. To Lady Louisa Wightwick it is probably the worst. By arrangement she is being married to the heir Eric Hiddleston, a man almost fifteen years her senior, who loves another woman. Moving into his sizeable manor Oakdale, Louisa must use all her skills as a proper lady to earn her place, while living with a man she does not love and who certainly does not love her.
