Now, I have turned eighteen years old and according to my father it is a perfect age to get married. Nobody asked my consent. Cause a black lady should be happy that she is even getting married....questioning and choosing is meant for beautiful ones. One day, I get to know by a maid that my marriage is going to happen with a sixty years old king who is very wealthy. At that moment, I decided, it's better to die than to marry in a hell where I was going to be used as an object. But... I had a plan to escape this hell.

She was born in an American base in a small town called Sulzbach in Germany but was raised in four cities in the Golden State. Of course, I could've written about a girl who finds comfort and loves her skin tone right from chapter one (because who doesn't like to read about a confident heroine, right?), but I didn't want to sugar-coat anything. This is a story about heartbreak, fighting through your insecurities, falling down, picking yourself up, and learning to love yourself without the need of validation from a man.
