Everyone can see your eye color change when you've met your soulmate, but there is a catch; you can't see it yourself until you've fallen in love with them. Natsu has always hated the societal expectations of soulmates. After his mother loses her color vision (punishment from the universe for leaving her soulmate) and his blind sister never having the opportunity to find hers, he's made up his mind that he's not going to live the way the universe wants him to.
