"Up," Miguel begins, "Down, Bottom, Top, Charm and Strange." Miguel looks at me when he says the last one.
I couldn't believe it. Mr Thompson just wouldn't pick me. I knew the answer. I was raising my hand and he picked him? The new comer?
I feel a tap on my shoulder, and I look back to see Miguel's face so close to mine. He is so close that I could feel his breath on my cheek. I lean back but the arm chair traps me, preventing me from getting any farther away from him. I hear the pencils on my desk bump against one another and my calculator. Great, he just made me ruin a perfectly aligned set of pencils. My hand tightens around the pencil that's still in my hand. Maybe I could poke this guy to death.
He stares at me and I stare back.
What's he looking at?
"What are you looking at?" I ask him in a whisper, voicing my thoughts.
He doesn't answer my question, until he casually replies, "You're weird."
My jaw drops. Who does this boy think he is?
