My life seems pretty normal, except I'm extraordinarily unpopular, my dad is known as the town's nutjob (which he is, believe me). My mom may as well be catatonic although she's still my favorite family member. I have terribly crippling anxiety along with being known as the neurotic geek in my school. I'm one of the most hated people at my school and, I almost forgot, to top it all off, only my best friend knows I'm gay and I live in Charleston, South Carolina, one of the most conservative places in the country. No one else can at least until college or my life may be even worse than it already is. My name is Eli Brooks and this is my story.

Caleb Matthews had a normal life until one mistake with a Facebook post changed it all. He was kicked out of his house, but he had his friends to help him up. I wanted to tell her today. I've said that to myself everyday for the past seven months now, but I guess it gets harder and harder every passing day, every passing week, every passing month. How I was going to tell her was the hardest part, it was like getting a birthday gift for your friend, so many choices, wondering if they will like it or not, and if they will actually accept it. But this isn't a birthday party, this is when I find out if my mom will really "love me no matter what," like she always says to me before we go to sleep. (This is from a school project and I'm actually semi-proud of it, I took the final submitted copy and added some stuff, edited it, yada yada. I don't usually write these kinds of stories, most of the stuff I write is full of fictional stuff, comedy, fantasy, etc. So don't be surprised when it sucks more than my other stuff.
