The Hungarian counter revolution of 1956 is known far and wide, every year anti-communists and fascists beat the drum of the "heros of Hungary" who were infact a vicious band of murders and marauders who led violent gangs in murders, rapes, and book burnings. "Tankies" likewise heap endless praise upon the actions of the Soviet social-imperialists in their subjugation of Hungary under the heel of Soviet social-fascism. But how did the events of 1956 come about? This is the real question that Communists must answer to ensure that another 1956 never comes to pass.

A spectre is haunting Europe - the spectre of communism. All the powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Tsar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies. Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries? Two things result from this fact: I. Communism is already acknowledged by all European powers to be itself a power. II. It is high time that Communists should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the spectre of communism with a manifesto of the party itself. To this end, Communists of various nationalities have assembled in London and sketched the following manifesto, to be published in the English, French, German, Italian, Flemish and Danish languages.

This is a German-language version of an informant report, which the Gestapo compiled in 1935 about the illegal structure of the KPD and in particular about the functioning of the KPD's military policy department (AM apparatus), as well as about the communist subversion in the Reichswehr and later the Wehrmacht. The Comintern (SH) has somewhat reworked this version. With the help of the class enemy, the Comintern (SH) was able to obtain new information about the military department of the KPD and make it available to the public free of charge.
