The story begins on a brisk morning in the mountains of Lost Nation. A little girl, not much older than ten lives with her Father and Mother. Her Father, who has been an alcoholic for the past nine years..most of her life, murders her mother in cold blood right in front of her eyes. She barely survives the encounter but that doesn't stop her from heping others. She goes from being the daughter of an abusive alcoholic Father. To a woman with one goal in her life, and that goal is what she lives for. It's the only thing that she feels she has worth living for. Or so she thinks. Until one evening she meets someone whose just as determined as her to keep guard what's been shattered. Someone who can turn her world upside down with just a few words. For better or for worse? Should she trust her own heart or her instinct to run? It's a choice she has to make. It brings her on a journey of pain, love, discovery, and the ability to either accept what is to come or to fight it.

This is a short story written on the theme of "Afterlife".It takes you the reader on an imagined journey from the subject's demise to a new world of existence. The portal of one doorway slams shut as another one opens up where fact and fiction collide introducing the prospect of life after death. The reader will discover for him/herself whether this is mere fantasy or whether we have all been here before and life is merely a test to see how we perform in order to prevent the same mistakes reoccurring in our future lives. Beyond our cosmos dreams and the galaxy of stars which we gaze out at night could be a new beginning for us and as one great writer once wrote and questioned "Is all that we see or seem just a dream within a dream?"

My name is Dakota Salvatore. I am the younger sister of the Salvatore brothers. I was born in the 1800's and turned at the age 16, by a vampire named Katarina Patrova. She turned me because I was caught in a fire and about to die. Now, my older brother Damon and I have returned to Mystic Falls, our own home town. Although I did not embark on the adventure my brothers had with the Patrova Doppleganger, Elena Gilbert, I had an adventure of my own. And this is how it goes. All rights go to whoever made this television show and created the characters. I do not own anyone but Cody, Malory, and Dakota.

I have a ton of idea's. Some of them really aren't shaped up for an actual book. So what am I left with? a shit-ton of short stories. Granted my short stories aren't really something that I tend to do often. Though I figured people would like to read them anyways. So here Is the first one. I hope you enjoy.
