Raised in Detroit, Nicholas pursued higher education at the University of Dayton as a Chaminade Scholar, eventually completing his bachelor's degree at Wayne State University in 2013. His fervent interest in public health led him to Johns Hopkins University, earning dual master's degrees in Public Policy and Public Health in 2017.
During his undergraduate years in 2012, Nicholas recognized a dire need for enhanced public health initiatives in Detroit. This realization drove him to create Healthy Detroit, a nonprofit that improves the city's health services through innovative and effective programs. His leadership saw the organization secure over $100 million in funding, enabling it to implement widespread health initiatives. By 2017, Healthy Detroit managed a substantial annual budget of $15 million, showcasing his strategic growth and resource management proficiency.
In 2017, Nicholas broadened his professional scope by founding Healthy Communities, a public policy consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. The firm specialized in providing strategic advice to key political figures and policymakers, including engagements with Speaker Paul Ryan, Senators Rand Paul and Tim Scott, and collaborations with the White House's Office of American Innovation.
