Excerpts from my award-winning book, Waltzing Australia.

A sinking ship. Stuck on an island. Those are common things to say. But what might not be so common is the castle on the island... but not a single soul in sight. If the castle was a crumbling heap, then maybe it would be understandable, but how would there be freshly baked bread laying on the counter? I am basing this book loosely off of a book I read that was written in the 1800s, updating it a bit and adding a few of my own twists. Hope you enjoy! And please do not steal my idea!

In the year 2063, convicts population is dense. For this cause, government around the world made a termination game called, The Prisoners Edge. The reason? To lessen the population of the convicts. The most wanted and fierce convicts were brought down to a vast artificial island which was made and controlled by the government at the center of the Pacific Ocean leaving the prisoners with no reason to escape. The island have a thousand of cameras that were used to show the live action inside into the world. There were also different terminating forces on the island, there are swarm of traps, diverse poisonous plants, unknown Killer Mechanical Robots (KMR's) and mysterious hunters. Among the convicts, one named James Kerr was inside the terminating game. He is a professional hired killer, an assassin and a genius hacker. To catch the phantom murderer called the Bone Picker who kills as gruesomely as he is named, five convicted lunatics are put together by the Head Detective Inspector of the jurisdiction. As the plot thickens and the Red Lady turns up dead at the foot of the mountains of Pir, with no name or identity and only a badly burnt stature-the group of convicts begin to realise that not only do they have to put their differences away and solve this together, but also, do it fast because if there is one thing the Bone Picker is best at doing is murder and this murderer might even beat their own trail. What was supposed to be a simple plane ride to their respectful destinations turned into something much bigger and more dangerous - the will to survive. When two planes, one full of high school seniors and the other full of convicted felons, crash on a seemingly deserted island, things don't look to good for either party. They wait on the beach, hoping for a rescue, but it doesn't come. Things go from bad to worse as members of both parties start turning up, dead. Both sides are eager to pin the blame on the other, but it soon becomes apparent that the truth is something far scarier. They are not alone. The island is inhabited by all manner of dangerous and terrifying creatures, and it's going to take more than good teamwork and a heavy dose of luck if anyone is going to make it of the island alive. Will anyone survive the nightmare?

This is a story of redemption and turmoil, violence and ambition, love and loss, and of course, Australia. This is quite an epic piece of writing, and the only thing that drew me to it was my recent interest in traveling to Australia and checking out the place for a while. I was searching for any interesting reading about the country and stumbled across this. This appealed to my literary side as well, because the story sounded so interesting, and I thought that it would put me in the proper mindset to really start making decisions about my trip. I am still just as undecided, but I have gained a hell of a lot of appreciation for the Australian landscape, and quite a bit of love for Gordon Smith along the way. He crafts a long-winded, but beautifully crafted story of a family through half a dozen generations, in a way that few authors would date to undertake. Not only that, he balanced family dynamics and a rich narrative with some of the most impactful events in modern history. There was a wealth of research behind this book to make so much of it so believable, and for that alone, I would respect the author and give him five stars. However, what really pushed this book over the edge of great for me was his diligent character work - bringing these people to life for us, his readers, as we watch them grow as individuals and evolve as a family unit. Truly Impressive Stuff!

A short story of regret, hope and fear. Follow along as three young convicts endlessly fight everything life throws at them. They grow and learn together and can't seem to separate. Chapter. 1 preview You couldn't escape this suffocating feeling because you knew you were the cause of it. It felt like you were drowning in your own mistakes and not a single soul could hear your sorrowful cries.

When she was on her way to meet him when he leaves in a car and then her whole life changed. She and him are going to jail where the men have never seen a female girl there before. Everyone wants her including the guards. Many convicts are wondering about her why would a girl be here? Some are infatuated by her. The Warren decided to make her life hell. But how can you fight the inevitable, how do you fight death?

Working as a policeman in a very large city in the the USA was an amazing experience. Come along with me as I write about my time working in the murder capital. At family gatherings or with friends, people always say "tell me a story from work." Here are some of my best, all true to the best of my recollection. I hope you enjoy them.
