Yall I ain't from Korea, but i completely fell in love with Korean books hen i saw this certain book called the god and the gumiho by Sophie Kim.
It all began at a quiet café, the kind idols went to when they wanted to disappear for a moment. Eun-chae and Seorin were working the afternoon shift together, moving in sync the way best friends did-finishing each other's sentences, trading looks that said everything without words.
That was the day Chang Hyun-woo walked in first, sunglasses pushed up, exhaustion softening his usual confidence. Hyejun followed, quieter, observant, taking in the room before anyone noticed him. The four of them didn't know it yet, but something shifted the moment their eyes met.
Hyun-woo was drawn to Eun-chae's easy laugh, how it cut through the quiet without trying. Eun-chae, in turn, felt seen-not as an idol, but as herself. Across the counter, Hyejun found himself watching Seorin: her calm, her steadiness, the way she seemed untouched by the noise of the world outside.
Nothing dramatic happened. No exchanged numbers. Just brief conversations, shy smiles, and a feeling that lingered longer than it should have. Eun-chae squeezed Seorin's hand when the boys left, both of them pretending not to care-both of them already knowing they would remember this day.
Two friendships held steady.
Two romances began to breathe.
And in the middle of busy schedules and public lives, something real quietly took root.
