When Coriolanus chooses not to turn in Sejanus for the plan to flee District 12, this leads to him and Lucy Gray moving to the Capitol together to escape Mayor Lipp. But what starts out as a dream come true turns into a nightmare as Lucy Gray proves to be more of a threat to the Capitol way of life than anyone could have predicted. Coriolanus finds that not only must he gain power to protect himself and the girl he loves, but fundamentally question his upbringing, values, and what it means to be human. An alternative ending/sequel to "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" (The Hunger Games #0) by Suzanne Collins. This story uses the book canon, not the movie.

Coriolanus Snow has always had severe paranoia and it's cost him a lot. Lucy Gray Baird is the love of his life and he was already lost to her as soon as he saw her selected in the reaping. Will his paranoid mind and thoughts keep him from loving Lucy Gray Baird freely, or will it end them? Even worse, they found something unexpected in the ruins of District 13, and suddenly, everything Coriolanus and Lucy Gray planned for their future changes.

summary: according to coriolanus snow, his best friend had the most beautiful voice in all of panem. you had been training your whole life constantly to get where you were. opera was your passion. your true love; and when that got stripped from you in a second his world became a whole lot quieter. he loathed every minute of it. pairing: young!coriolanus snow x opera singer!reader tags/warnings: opera singer!mentor!reader (blink and you'll miss it), mute!reader, bestfriend!coryo, friends to lovers trope ooo, mentions of graphic violence early on (particularly the prologue) but after that it's pretty safe, depictions of ptsd/trauma, mental illness and minor suicidal ideation but at least she's not entirely alone, descriptions of minor medical treatments and use of medication.

Altough, she suspected that something was up with her classmate she didn't think he would do such a thing, risking not even the prize but his education in the Capitol. The two can't seem to stop thinking about the other but will they meet again?
