Cosa Nostra-the life that finds you, not the other way around.
In the 1920s, as the Mafia rises to power and families claim their territories, a story unfolds.
Omeretta Jackson, a sharp-witted and resilient nurse, carries the weight of her past along with the responsibility of raising her two younger brothers. A Southern-born Black woman navigating the pulse of Harlem during the New Negro Movement, living by the rules of the south that isn't much needed in the north.
Two men stand at opposite ends of the underworld: one, a capo of the Vitale Family, and the other, a Southern capo of the Mancini Family. Their worlds collide with Omeretta's, binding their fates in a dance of power, identity, and forbidden alliances. A world that found her as much as she avoided it. The truths about the known and unknown worlds.
