Down-on-his-luck private investigator Ray Leonard has seen his share of strange cases. But nothing could prepare him for Cassie-a mysterious redhead with an appetite for applesauce and a habit of claiming she's a goddess from beyond the stars. When a routine stakeout turns into a blood-soaked shootout at a 24-hour diner, Ray finds himself reluctantly protecting this strange girl from men in black suits with guns... and something much worse lurking beneath their human disguises. As reality itself begins to unravel around them, Ray must confront an impossible truth: Cassie's wild tales about cosmic entities and interdimensional powers might not be delusions after all. Something ancient and terrible wants her back-something willing to tear apart the fabric of our world to get her. With his cynical intern Sam as his only ally, Ray must decide whether to trust his rational mind or his gut instinct. Because in a universe where gods walk among us wearing human skin, and eldritch horrors hunt through hospital corridors, Ray Leonard might be the only thing standing between our world and cosmic horror beyond imagination. Sometimes a puzzle is better left unsolved.

This is a collection of short stories which I'm currently putting together to explore a cosmic horror setting that's been ruminating in my mind for a long time. The Panopticon of Babel has heavy Catholicism references and is primarily written in the first person. I will also note that I (the author) am fairly new to sharing my writing online and am currently an engineering student so updates may be few and far between. I will try and get chapters out in a somewhat timely manner, but no promises.

When the endless Nightmare finally collapsed, Ashen believed he had won. He had slain the last of the dream gods, torn himself free of a realm that fed on fear, and wished only for one thing: to go home. But the world he returns to is nothing like the one he left behind. Centuries have passed, the cities have fallen into ruin, and the land itself is being consumed by a spreading mist that carries living shadows. Humanity survives behind broken walls, haunted by the creatures that once belonged only to dreams. They speak in whispers about the Returned, warriors who came back from the Nightmare changed, powerful, and cursed. Ashen is one of them. To the people he is a weapon, to the Dominion he is a threat, and to the growing darkness that infects the waking world he is something even worse - a seed. With Mira, a healer who still believes in light even when surrounded by ruin, Ashen begins to face what he has become: a man caught between saving what remains of humanity and destroying it. As the line between dream and reality fades, he must decide whether he will fight the darkness within him or finally surrender to it.
