The year is 2008(AD), and the world is in the throes of another 70s revival. Nobody knew how or why it all began. That is the least of humanity's problems, however. Reality itself seems to be breaking down, to the dismay of scientists, corporate titans and the ruling elites/reptilian demigods that have lorded it over the existing structure for countless eons. Secret agent Cassius Croon is hired to investigate a series of particularly bizarre events transpiring around the globe. They suspect he is the One. Actually, he is the None.

Chloe Chen, a rising econ star at Westmore University, is a hopeless romantic, which might have been admirable if she wasn't in love with a fictional character. Skye Lark is just the man for the job, an up-and-coming cosplayer with shapeshifting abilities that could rival Loki himself. When their two paths cross through an guerilla set up by Chloe's best friend, they find themselves drifting into an unlikely friendship. But can a bond really last if one person is hired to play the part? And how do you know you really, truly, know someone, more than just the idea of them? She likes him for his looks. He likes her for her money. That's what they tell each other, at least. But as their carefully scripted arrangement teeters dangerously on the edge of genuine romance, both of them are forced to confront the unbearable question: at what point does too much make-believe cross the line?

In this story though, we tell the story of the less fortunate, the losers, the demons and devils who were laid waste to during the war between heaven and hell.
