Six best friends run a cosy café tucked beneath an apartment building, where every morning begins with hope... and usually ends with something on fire (metaphorically... mostly ☕🔥). Burnt pastries, chaotic rush hours, unpredictable customers, and an espresso machine that behaves like it has emotions of its own are just part of the routine. Still, in the middle of all the noise and near-disasters, they stay. They laugh through the stress, fix each other's mistakes without asking, and somehow turn every breakdown into something survivable. Because when everything feels like too much, having someone beside you makes even chaos feel a little less heavy. Life isn't perfect-but it feels softer when it's shared. Warmer when someone remembers how you take your coffee. Easier when you don't have to face it alone. And somehow, even on the worst days, it feels worth it when your best friends are right there with you. ☕ Welcome to Espresso Express. Please don't mind the chaos.

Asra is a vampire who's been running her bookshop cafe for years, her most prized achievement in her eternal life. She was perfectly happy running her shop alone-- until Ivory walked in that fateful day. It was three years ago, just as autumn was finally settling in, and not only had Ivory just moved into York, but also into Asra's heart. She knew her order by heart: A pumpkin spice latte and a new horror book, with an hour to settle down in the shop's leather couch to read. But Asra knew that they would always stay this way, customer and server, until one day in October, Ivory asks that instead of Asra making pumpkin spice lattes for her, she buys one for Asra. Though Asra's daydreams have finally come true, she has yet to reveal her true nature to Ivory-- That she's a creature of the night, much like the ones Ivory reads about. She fears that Ivory will treat her like the monsters she reads about instead of the sweet, pacifist girl she really is. Will the two finally blossom into something more? Or will their budding relationship freeze over like a late autumn evening? Contains suggestive dialogue and scenes, but no explicit scenes

Six best friends. One café. And a space that finally feels like theirs. Expresso Express isn't just moving anymore - it's here. Walls are up, cups are stacked, the espresso machine is back in action... and somehow, that makes everything feel both real and unfamiliar at the same time. This is the part no one talks about. When the chaos of moving is gone, but the chaos of living begins. New routines, new customers, new mistakes - and the quiet pressure of trying to make something last. But they're still them. Still laughing in the middle of rush hours, still fixing each other's disasters without a word, still turning ordinary days into something worth staying for. Because a new beginning isn't about starting over perfectly... It's about starting over together. ☕ Expresso Express - same hearts, new rhythm.

Imogen Fox, the personal assistant and wife-to-be of John Oakby, the Mayor of Fleckney Woulds, a small and peaceful county town, arrives at her office one rainy morning, only to find a corpse there - and her fiancé standing over it, his hands covered in blood. The victim turns out to be the husband of the woman everyone in Fleckney knows of. In the past she had been a part of several scandals involving the sons of the most wealthy and powerful families in the county, before she left for London in pursuit of a better life - and a richer husband. This isn't Imogen's first murder investigation, but it might yet prove to be the most challenging one. In order to catch the culprit Imogen will have to unearth the secrets of many of her dear friends, including the local police sergeant; the vicar; the husband of her closest friend who owns most of the property in the county; a famous military writer, residing in Fleckney - and unsurprisingly, the Mayor himself. Meanwhile, someone is breaking into people's gardens and ruins their lawn, digging for something. With only three months left until her wedding, Imogen has her hands full.

Six best friends. One café. And now... a whole new place to learn how to call home. After everything they've survived inside their tiny, chaotic café beneath an apartment building, Espresso Express is finally moving-café, boxes, memories, and all. But moving isn't simple. It's late-night packing, half-labeled boxes, rooms that don't make sense yet, and a new space that feels too big, too empty, and just a little too quiet without the noise they're used to. Between the café rebuild and the apartment settling, every day becomes a mix of exhaustion, laughter, small arguments, and the kind of teamwork that only works when no one actually knows what they're doing. Still, they move forward. Together. Because even when everything changes-the place, the layout, the walls-they don't. And maybe that's enough to make anywhere feel like home. ☕ Same café, new address... don't miss us too much.

When my parents suggested I joined an after school activity, the book club was the obvious choice. And I'm so glad I did! Not only I met my best friend there, but also, she was the one who introduced me and Jordan. And, yes, I know what you're thinking: "A good girl and a bad boy? That's such a cliché!" But, please, hear me out: Nothing is always quite as it seems, and, before I knew it, I ended up involved in a struggle larger than I'd ever imagined. In fact, that was what ultimately led me to take a stand in the war of good versus evil. But, I'm getting way ahead of myself. Let me tell you the story from the very beginning.

Hello, I'm Fenella. I live in the North East of England. On the 24th of June 2025, I had a brain haemorrhage and emergency surgery in Newcastle. I spent three months in ICU and HDU at James Cook Hospital before moving into my new home, where I now live with my cat, Artemis, and-soon-my future PAWS assistance dog, Grimm. Language and cognition are harder for me now, but as part of my rehabilitation I want to raise funds for my recovery, for Ward 24 (who took such good care of me), and for SEDSConnective charity research on neurodivergence and hypermobility. When I moved in, I found one of my old cozy mystery notebooks: "A Partridge in a Pear Tree-Twelve Deadly Days of Christmas." I don't remember the story, and writing, organising thoughts, and reading are much harder than before. So I thought it might be fun to share a photo (Daily Clue) from my old notebook each day and to ask you to set me a writing challenge based on that clue. This gives me structure, therapy, and a sense of purpose-helping me to slowly get back to writing cozy mysteries. This is my 'Mending Mysteries' project. Thank you for joining me on this gentle, hopeful journey-every clue and comment helps support my recovery. ABOUT THE STORY On a snowy winter's day, a grieving orchard owner must confront the ghosts of his past in order to stop a killer and save the family business in time for Christmas.

Victoria Collins left Rainier Valley with a broken heart and a suitcase full of dreams. Now, years later-and with nothing left tying her to the city-she's back in the fog-draped Pacific Northwest town she swore she'd never return to. Her plan is simple: open the bookstore she's always wanted, keep her head down, and stay far away from the boy who once shattered her heart. Ray Bridgers has never escaped the shadow of his father-the town sheriff-or the one summer that changed everything. Known for fast cars, late nights, and a streak of trouble, he's worked hard to build a quieter life under the hood of his garage. But when Victoria shows up out of nowhere, old feelings roar back to life like an engine refusing to die. Their reunion is anything but smooth. She's rebuilding from grief. He's hiding from the life he almost became. And in a town that remembers everything, second chances don't come easy. But when secrets rise and the past comes knocking, Victoria and Ray will have to decide: is love something you leave behind, or something worth fighting for-even when it's buried under years of silence? A heart-achingly tender slow-burn romance about first love, small towns, and finding your way back to the one who never really let you go.
