Inspired by the Ella Langley song Choosing Texas and Tuesday nights line dancing with the best co-workers in the world.
There are moments in your life that really stand out. Moments that are burned into your brain for you to remember. Always. In extremely vivid detail. For me, there were several, the way they changed the trajectory of my life was undeniable. But the details, it's surprising how many details I remembered with perfect clarity, even when I didn't want to. The most significant started as the happiest day of my life but ended as the worst night of my life. Worse even than the night she walked away.
After a devastating heartbreak, Ranger left behind his family farm in Texas, heading for Nashville and a career making music. Navigating the ins and outs of Music Row wasn't for the faint of heart, but he was determined to make it. Halfway through his second set at a regular Thursday night gig, he saw her, Jolie Prince, the straightlaced forensic tech. For Ranger it was love at first sight, his future waited in the audience. Ever practical, Jolie dismissed Ranger, her life vision didn't include a country star. Instead, she preferred quiet nights at home and stability. After his relentless pursuit, Jolie caved and agreed to date.
A fast and furious romance began. After six months they lived together, six more months and they were engaged. But happiness never lasts and tragedy fractured the life they were creating. Carrying guilt that didn't belong to him, Ranger was vulnerable when his past became very much his present. Ever observant Jolie saw the writing on the wall, quietly stepping aside.
A new state, a new job, a new Jolie. Determined to move on with her life, forgetting the brief soul changing love she and Ranger shared, she worked even harder to achieve her goals. But were things ever what they seemed? Years and miles passed and Jolie is the one Ranger longed for. What would it take to earn back her love?
