Dick Grayson was taken by the Court of Owls after his parents death. Bruce never forgets about the boy who disappeared though. Talon was created to be the Court's perfect weapons, and Dick Grayson was lost. Bruce finds Talon, but will have to teach him how to be a person. Joining a team of rebellious partners (sidekicks) also helps.

In this AU Richard was never taken in by batman, instead he was taken in by his great grandfather, William Cobb. Will then proceeded to explain to him how he was chosen to become the next talon. Richard refused at first but, eventually all the guilt he had built up due to failing to save his parents turned to hatred. Hatred toward Tony zucco, the man who killed his family in the first place. He was eventually lured into believing that if he didn't kill zucco then he would continue to murder innocent families, and he couldn't let that happen, we he accepted his new role as the court of owl's talon.
