Gon doesn't mind, because he also loves Killua, but wants to see how long he would last until he gives in, and confesses to him. But this was taking too long, so Gon decided to give Killua a push, and started to date someone. He knows Killua is insanely jealous, but is it enough to get him to come out into the (gay) light?
