This a short-story I wrote myself a while ago and had entered it in my school's competition for writing but unfortunately it didn't win. I decided a few weeks back to publish this online and so I did. I really hope you enjoy it. I am definitely proud of this book so enjoy! :) x

This poetry anthology was an end of the year assignment for my writer's craft class. We had to pick a theme and then write 10 poems based on the theme. I picked "Different is Beautiful".

This is not a collection of perfect poems- but pieces of light that slipped through the places I thought were broken. Each word is a breath I couldn't take back, each line a moment I lived through-softly, silently, and sometimes, in storms. These poems are for anyone who's ever felt too much, for hearts that hide their glow in quiet corners. Dennis works as a janitor, but not in the normal sense. He doesn't clean up trash, he cleans up memories, and things left behind when people are no longer there. He is good at his job, and enjoys it, but bit by bit things around him start to fall apart. He has a hard time remembering the date. The hour. Even the year. He gets sick more and more often, and the office sends him an assistant, a girl, barely into college, named Allison. As he trains her and works with her, she seems more and more familiar, even though he knows he's never met her or even seen her. Piece by piece his life falls through the cracks. His wife left him years ago and now, he can no longer remember why. What he does and can remember doesn't always match up with what others say happened. He worries he might be hallucinating, that the job and the unusual work it requires might, finally, be catching up to him. His brain is having more and more trouble filling in the gaps.
