But the owner refuses to take it back and gives it to Erica to keep. So Erica does some research on the lady that originally owned it and she finds some odd information about her. Later, Erica finds that the ring can do some pretty incredible/scary things. But the rings abilities aren't all that great.

Exploring is all fun and games until its not. Then I'm not quite so sure what it is, but as the saying goes, "I don't need to outrun the zombies (or monster or ghosts etc.) I just need to outrun you (your former friends)." Take that as you may, but for safety always travel with either someone under 3 or over 75. Maybe the kids in this story would have done well to have heeded this advice.
