Essa is a immortal being with a constantly crumbling mental state while Jeff is just an inhumane man who couldn't care less for Essa. Essa somehow is able to always pick Jeff out of a crowd no matter how cruel the other is, even with all of Essa's intense pressures he seems to grown fond of Jeff as time passes.
