"So, when are you going to give me a chance?" I asked, referencing the unrequited feelings that had lingered since high school. After a brief pause, a sly smile spread across her face. "How about... next... never," she teased, before leaning in to kiss my cheek. With that, she got out of the car and left me stunned.. *~•~•~* In the complex world of high school, students navigate a delicate balance of academics, social relationships, and personal growth. For Kyomi, a British transfer student, this new environment is a chance to heal and rediscover herself. Having lost her best friend and brother, Kyomi's bubbly personality gave way to introversion. However, as she settles into her new life in Jamaica, she begins to form strong bonds and find joy again. That is, until she meets him - a captivating and wealthy schoolboy who unwittingly captures her heart. As Kyomi delves deeper into his world, she uncovers a startling truth: her crush is the next Don, and his family is eerily connected to her painful past. Jah'Mari, the charming footballer, is the eldest son of a powerful family. Reserved and observant, he guards his emotions, one thing is certain - their love will be tested by jealousy, secrets, pain, heartbreak, and drama.

KARMICVILLE: Secrets of the Acadian Land of Nod by Valeri Caronna Under the swamps of Louisiana, where the cypress roots twist into tunnels older than memory, a hidden world waits. Kevin Dupré thought he was just building a dock. The Caronna Richardson Dock was meant to be neutral ground-a place where anyone could trade without fighting. But when strange boats begin arriving from the mist and creatures from forgotten kingdoms step onto the planks, Kevin discovers the truth: the swamp sits on top of something much bigger. Beneath the mud and moss lies the Land of Nod-a sprawling underground crossroads where frogs rule hidden courts, gummy creatures guard ancient tunnels, pirate ghosts ride spectral trains, and yellow brick passages lead toward places that should only exist in stories. When a powerful Creole witch begins opening lost tunnels and feeding the kingdoms a magic that turns hunger into addiction, the fragile balance of the underworld begins to collapse. Old treaties awaken. Ancient spirits stir. And Kevin finds himself at the center of a war he never asked for. His only weapon? A boiling pot of crawfish, a stubborn belief that nobody should go hungry, and a dock built on one rule: Neutral ground. But in the Land of Nod, every crossroads leads somewhere dangerous. And some hungers are older than the swamp itself.

This gorilla has never been to Lower Creauteaux. Despite never setting foot there and not knowing a damn thing about the place, she embodies everything noble and virtuous about Lower Creauteaux. Now if you put her on the back of a flatbed trailer and drove about an hour into the swamp and set her in front of Hebert's Lounge, she wouldn't look at all out of place. And if she's sitting there in front of Hebert's Lounge and it's a little past 10 AM, there's a high likelihood that a one Clovis Fontenot will stumble out and attempt to get amorous with her. In fact, last week Clovis tried the same thing with Clarice Pitre, but unlike this gorilla she is by no means noble and virtuous. On the other hand, if he were to approach Precious Boudreaux the reigning gumbo queen, Clovis would get his ass beaten to a bloody pulp. So if you're a blue concrete gorilla, it's probably best to stay where you are, in front of that gas station on Hwy 90. But that doesn't mean you have to remain where you are. Unlike a concrete gorilla you don't need to wait for someone to drive you on a flatbed trailer to visit Lower Creauteaux. Also you can run from Clovis Fontenot while a concrete gorilla gotta sit there and take it. So come on down. But a few rules of etiquette, first, don't go off and look at anybody wrong, they'll beat your ass beat to a bloody pulp. Secondly, if come across a fella peddling a ten speed in a Ninja suit, leave him be. That's Hershell Pitre III on his way to the Himalayas to study with the Shaolin priests so he can return and battle the chupacabras raiding folks cabbage patches. Finally, make sure you seek out Aunt Edna Boudreaux. If Aunt Edna takes a shine to you, she might just bring you into her kitchen and let you sample some of her world-famous turtle soup, the one with the Afordisac in it. But be warned, just a little sip, don't go crazy like Clovis Fontenot, otherwise you may find yourself in front of Hebert's Lounge trying to get amorous with a concrete gorilla.
