Player was merely Cub's replacement. Never meant to be anything more. But you can't exactly survive almost certain doom without making a few friends along the way. This is a multiship book, so multiple ships will happen throughout the book, but the following ships are endgame: Captain x Stoner, Player x Veteran, The Gentleman x Mr Cheese, Monster x Mr Egg, Bro x Ninja, and Angel x Dum. Technically, Player is the protagonist, but most if not all characters will get at least one chapter in their point of view. I wanna see my family again. -Prologue- I was in the Admin's room, trying to swipe my card. It wasn't working. I sighed, swiping faster so I could meet up with my brother. Just then the door slammed close. I jumped scared, swiping faster now. "Please work." I whispered to myself. I look at the vent, scared I was gonna die here. A tall figure comes out of the vent, walking over to me. Its black... the lights goes off causing me me yelp. I was about to scream but a hand covers my mouth. I'm pulled into him. I struggle to keep tears from falling. I don't wanna die! Not now... He grabs my card and swipes it getting it correct in the first try. He lets go of my mouth, stepping back.

Having a family of seventeen, a mom who's a therapist (as well as a stay-at-home parent) and a dad who's a sheriff, older siblings who have their lives figured out, and a social (though slightly ignorant of her own twin) butterfly of a twin sister, his family always thrived on social interaction. Imagine their shock whenever their youngest son has social anxiety. This means Andrew was often overlooked, outcasted, and/or underestimated due to being the "quiet oddball." He never expected to be thrown into an endless stimulation. Like most, Andrew thought it was a normal game with jellybean-like avatars. He was wrong. Like he'd been thrown into a VR headset, Andrew was suddenly no more; he joined a lobby where players can't leave. There are some who have been there for years, and others who had only just barely gotten used to the lobby by the time he joined. As he spends more time with the crewmates, Andrew (now Red) battles against his own anxiety, fighting to get a grip on his humanity and against the Impostor, an otherworldly parasitic entity that kills and sabotages the lobby, which tries to consume him using its manipulation. Gaining patient mentors in Blue, Yellow, and Purple and antagonistic rivalries with the analytical Green and the seemingly arrogant Black, Red starts to think that he might actually belong here unlike in the real world. And maybe... maybe they don't need to escape so badly.

Andrew clearly didn't know what he was doing when he pressed the join button. After a long and boring day of exams, Andrew wanted nothing more than to just... fade. As a teenage boy struggling with social anxiety, social interaction certainly wasn't his strong suit. So after coming home with his twin sister Andrea, physically and mentally exhausted, his worried eldest sister suggested he should play Among Us. Andrew didn't think much of it. Just a five-minute break with a jellybean-like avatar, right? Wrong. Andrew had immediately noticed something was wrong when he loaded in. He couldn't see his desktop or the chaotic arguing of teenagers and adolescents. No, it was like a VR- gone wrong; this "innocent game" his sister suggested was a deathtrap. Andrew hadn't meant to join an endless round with other players. Andrew's (now going by "Red") anxiety makes it hard to speak up when the malicious entity the others know as the Impostor starts manipulating him and another crewmate. However, little does Red know, this "game" and the people inside it may just change his life... forever. From here on out, there's no exit. Red had one job. One. Simple. Job. Earn the crewmates' trust, kill them, and sabotage their ship. Simple, right? That's what Red thought... until he met Blue. Sweet, innocent Blue who's just about everyone's friend. Blue was too trusting. Too stupid. Too... annoyingly kind. And Red, someone who's suffered under the torment of the Alpha Impostor for years, didn't know what to do with that. There are three Impostors on this ship. And there is 17 crewmates. This is going to be one heck of a space-trip.

Blue, a skilled Impostor who has ended 2 quarters of Mira HQ already, is relocated to the Airship, where their sister Cyan has settled down. She welcomes them profusely, and urges them to befriend everyone they could. Blue does, attempting to gain the other crewmates' trust. However, seeing the relatively peaceful relationships of the crewmates in the Airship compared to the more toxic relationships found in the other 2 quarters makes Blue hesitate. Follow Blue on their journey as the parasite loses hold on them with each hesitation... and, behind the scenes, a singular crewmate gets infected by the very parasite controlling Blue, which was sent by the Skeld.
