The main character of the story works at a fast food chain showing the struggle of coping after having had worked for two months. Making soft serves isn't her favourite part of the job, but having fun making them is. As the protagonist gains more responsibility over time, she learns that if the job has to be done, it is to be done by herself.

While looking at some old photographs, Santiago starts reminiscing about the time he worked on a ship. Countless memories have been forged, and sometimes, with the quick passage of time, he fears such memories could be lost. So, he writes them down, one by one.
