Newt's travel ban was not in place until after his book was published and he was able to visit Tina in New York before then. They become close, very close, but then, when Newt isn't allowed to leave the country, he is unable to explain the mistake in an article about him. Their relationship falls apart and they don't see each other again until Newt finally tracks Tina down, in Paris. The Fantastic Beasts movies do not belong to me. The entire Harry Potter universe belongs to J. K. Rowling.

Newt Scamander's dream of having his book published is coming true! He cannot wait for the wizarding world to be educated on the world's magical creatures. As the big news finally registers in his head, he gets distracted by a certain someone's photograph in his suitcase, and, unfortunately, he was caught. . . . . . . . . .
