After having been accepted into the university of her dreams in Manhattan, New York, Charlotte Williams is eager to start her new life far, far away from her overbearing parents in Houston. However, an obstacle stands in her way, and that is Daniel Anderson, a young man she is arranged to marry after getting her degree in journalism. Charlotte does not like Daniel and she has no plans on returning to Houston nor does she have plans on marrying him. When she arrives at LaGuardia Airport in Manhattan, she witnesses a murder in broad daylight. One of the police officers just so happened to catch her eye. Charlotte must navigate being tangled in a murder mystery, being in love with a police officer, and breaking free from her parents' overbearing grip and the looming marriage with Daniel.
