This fic follows the plot of Guillermo Del Toro's "Crimson Peak" but with alterations. The reader is a young, independent woman who gains the attention of a mysterious Thomas Sharpe. It basically follows the movie except for a happier ending and a lesser, but still prevalent, degree of Gothic tropes/dark tones. I am a huge fan of the movie/Tom/Guillermo and mean to only embrace and give my own romanticized take on the film! - I would also like to acknowledge that I have not written this story, it was originally posted by an author on archives of our own

Thomas had loved Elena more than anything else in the world but she was a thorn in Lucilles side so she killed her without him knowing. What's gonna happen when Elena wants to prevent Edith from the same destiny?

"You new in town?" The man at the till asked. "My sister's moving in a ways away from here. I'm just helping her move in before flying home." James had said. "How far?" "Bout... Two hours?" I said. "Pfft, the only place out that far is Allerdale." One boy said at a nearby booth. "Exactly. I spent the better part of three years renovating that place." I said, taking the bag with the Subs. "I give you two weeks." Another boy said. "Two weeks?" "Two weeks to live. You know the story, right?" The first boy asked. "I know the legend, yes." *** Kira Thompson, after heavy renovations and three years worth of work, is the proud new owner of Allerdale Hall, it's first in almost 120 years. Despite the rumors and legends that came from the old building, Kira doesn't believe in the ghosts that had supposedly helped Edith Cushing escape back in 1901. After all, who would belive something like that? But, as they say, there's no rest for the wicked... *** Crimson Peak is a movie by Guillermo Del Toro, all characters and concepts belong to him and such.
