Alys Ainsworth had very little left, aimlessly searching for the sister she'd been separated from for years had lead her far from the place she'd once called home. She had been sacred, terrified and helpless when Lady Allura and Lady Kima had found her and taken her in, taught her how to use the gifts she'd never entirely understood. ***SPOILERS THROUGH EPISODE 97*** ................................................................ A misjudged distance and timing on Keyleth the Druid's part leads to her breif but real death. Revivified by Vex'ahlia, she returns to life as the party begins to return to Whitestone. This is the story of Vax'ildan coming to grips with what happened and his discussion with Keyleth shortly after her accident. Credit goes to the Critical Role cast and crew for the original characters and story arcs. This is a head cannon I thought up while watching the episode. I also do not own the cover art used. Credit to the brilliant artist who must like #Vaxleth almost as much as I do. Anyway, enjoy the story!

An anthology I created over the course of a few years after a deep obsession with The Mighty Nein. Kess, a young man trying to carve out a meaningful existence for himself in Wildemount, experiences the highs and lows every corner of the continent had to offer. Trying to maintain his integrity and sanity in a world of corrupt or misguided governments and other powerful organizations against all odds. The chapters will start off following a mostly straight timeline but may get messy as I wrote each chapter at various points of my life completely out of order. Coinciding and inevitably following along with the plot of The Mighty Nein, with plenty of dark, romantic, lustful, and difficult moments with a handful of preestablished characters. Kess is a human, starting in his late teens all the way to his mid to late twenties, his journey of being taken advantage of as he works to become a self established mage. (Battle Smith Artificer with some sprinkles of Dunamantic Wizard) Finding a purpose in his life, learning to have faith and rebuild trust in strangers he find wiggling their way into his life. This story is for me and me alone, but I have some pride in it and wish to condense all my scattered writings into one coherent book. Any comments, praise, or critiques are welcome but will not have any major effect on my writing. Disclaimer that I am not an export on the lore Critical Role has built for Exandria, I do my best to stay true to the material but take liberties for the sake of the story I wish to tell. That being said, the only thing I claim ownership of is Kess himself. Everything from the characters to the world itself belongs to those with much better creativity, imagination, and have put more effort into all of Exandria than I ever have. Critical Role has been a major inspiration to me and my writing career, and I would never wish to discredit all they have accomplished and created. Enjoy the reading. -XtraSass

But as consciousness fades, a danger looms, guiding her unwittingly into a nightmare that she cannot wake from. Can Keyleth escape the trap her fears have created? Or will she be stranded in her own mind forever? Read to find out! This fanfic was heavily influenced by Isaac Crutchfield's ideas on the Facebook group "Critical Role Fan Club". He gets most of the credit for this. I just expanded a little. I have placed it occuring in the year break that VM took before episode 95. As such spoilers from then back are implicit in the story. You have been thouroughly warned. :)

In a plot of revenge someone kidnapped Darko and has malfunctioned him to be on a path of destroying the world and covering it with despair. Jojo wakes up to find herself a hostage to a monobot and about to be killed only for her life to be rescued by SAE agent Dagore who takes her to safety. Unfortunately she's stunned to find out one of her friends, Joey, carries a dark side and is running with the SAE. Dagore begs for help in snapping Darko out of his state of mind. A confused Jojo overhears everyone and outbursts to let her do it because she's unknown and not one of them. Raef and the others talk it over before reluctantly deciding to let her in but she needed to wake up her dark side. Now as Jyns, she heads out into the fray and finds an unexpected ally in the form of killing game survivor Rosy. The duo are in a troubled case having to gather allies in a renegade group of dark tubers including former victim Janus "Deceit" Sanders who has gotten his emotions in check. But can they stop Darko's renegade and determine the real cause?
