Samantha has a secret, one she can never reveal. Her life is perfect and her smile is eternally there. She is a famous singer to a genre she cannot stand. She lives in a beautiful home with people who she loathes. On her finger lays a ring that every moment of every day reminds her of a deal she struck with the devil she is to marry. They move to the small town known as Delias, Kansas. She remembers her past here. The memories are wonderful and bright and a lagoon hidden away in a firefly lit forest is her familiar hideaway as a child. But with every happy memory the bargain burns through it like a heavy burning coal resting on her finger. She sees them. She knows who they are, yet to them she is nothing but a stranger. A lingering touch from an accidental run in and a quick scent of hers blowing their way has their immediate attention. Samantha must fight her desires and stay away from those who she shared every moment of her life before with. Because if they remember, no one is safe. But desire plays unfairly at times.

But the one thing that makes Hannah's life completely different from other 16 year old girls, is the lack of obsession with boys. She doesn't see what's so good about them, and is completely weirded-out at the thought of dating one. Hannah likes to friend-zone every guy she meets, mostly, without meaning to. "Then Harrison comes along, thinking he can change everything. Seriously, who does he think he is? Because in my world, he's not changing a thing."
