Mia Langley doesn't do feelings, or rather, she compartmentalises them and lets things pile on and stay tough in the face of pain or danger with emotional walls. That's how she was raised as the oldest daughter of a former Navy SEAL veteran-turned-federal-military contractor father and a cardiologist mother in the midst of a messy divorce, who'd rather trained her than parented her, which resulted in the rift that was never repaired within her family, among other unsolved issues.
