Fascinated with the story of Aethon the shepherd in Anthony Doerr's Cloud Cuckoo Land, I set about recreating the story. This story has been rewritten with kids in mind, so that they can understand the story and appreciate it. This was meant to be an entry in the SciFi Challenge, but once again, I got drawn into medical nonsense and missed the deadline. I've decided I like it though, so here it is.

Short story (885 words) about a woman in Santa Fe, New Mexico, who discovers time manipulation through a magic cuckoo clock and suffers the consequence.

Fascinated with the story of Aethon the shepherd in Anthony Doerr's Cloud Cuckoo Land, I set about recreating the story. The parts in bold are Doerr's original text, kept in order. The parts without bold are additions to fill in the gaps and complete the tale. This way, Aethon's complete story can be told.
