Dear Friends, It has been a while since you've heard from Culdee and his friends. It's been quite eventful up there lately! Bad coal, rockslides, and general bad luck have caused a lot of chaos. Mr. Walter Richards is very exhausted from it all, but you'll have to read to find out what happened. The Author.

This is my take on Proteus's backstory. Of course it is in my TTTE humanized au, so a few things would be different compared to the show. It takes place on the Skarloey Railway, somewhere around the late 1800s. Proteus learns a lot throughout his childhood, and discovers many things he does not understand. I'm not happy with how this turned out, so it may be rewritten one day, but I had to write it for an English project. Apologies if it is too difficult to read, I know I should've done spacing with single lines, but it would have made too many pages, and I read larger paragraphs a lot better. I'm just going to let you know ahead of time, I gave up near the end, so the pacing is obviously a lot more rushed, and the story stops being coherent. It was around 3 am when I decided to just finish the story somehow, there was a lot I wanted to add, a lot I needed to add, but I just couldn't. Maybe one day. I am very fond of these characters, and they do mean a lot to me, so treat this like a rough draft or a base for the big, final picture, when I finally bring everything together. (Model sheets for the characters may come soon. I just wanted to publish the story already).
