Once A Upon Time... There was a 14 year old Middle Schooler named Hoshizora Miyuki who adores fairy tales books and is a new transfer student on her first day of school. She literally comes face-to-face with Candy, a fairy from the kingdom of fairy tales called "Marchenland" where all the good characters lived in harmony but one day, The kingdom was attacked by the evil characters of The Bad End Kingdom, led by the evil king "Pierrot". At the Climax, both the Queen and King of Marchenland and Pierrot were sealed away by each other, leaving the ending to the story unfinished. Candy and Her Caretaker Wombat was sent by the Queen and King to recover the scattered Cure Decor that can revive the Them and save Marchenland. Faced with the agents of the Bad End Kingdom who seek to plunge humans into despair and collect the remaining bad energy to revive Pierrot. Miyuki's belief in standing strong against adversity despite her own fears grants her the power to transform into one of the legendary warriors, Pretty Cure. Eventually, Miyuki assembles a complete team of Pretty Cure from her classmates, Hot-Blooded and Outgoing "Akane Hino/Cure Sunny", Timid and Anime/Gaming/Tokusatsu Otaku "Kise Yayoi/Cure Peace" Headstrong and Courageous "Midorikawa Nao/Cure March" Intelligent and Polite "Aoki Reika/Cure Beauty", Childish yet Friendly "Hakone Yumoto/Battle Lover Scarlet", Lazy yet Reserved "Yufuin En/Battle Lover Cerulean", Smart yet Passive "Kinugawa Atsushi/Battle Lover Epinard", Pragmatic yet Money-Loving "Naruko Io", and Casanova(ish) yet Energetic "Zaou Ryuu" to save the world from an Bad Ending. After Pierrot was defeated, the world was given a happy ending for the final time. At least, so the Smile Precure thought.. A year after their victory, Joker returns to torment Marchenland once more. In doing so, he sealed Royal Queen Candy away in a darker version of the Sloth Ball. Marchenland is yet again faced with a depression, and a devastated Pop returns to Earth to seek out the Precure's help once more. Miyuki, Akane, Yayoi, Nao and Reika must gather the Decors all over again- but this time, The Bad End Commanders have a new trick up their sleeves..
