Selena is stuck.
She's feels like she's the only one in her family not growing or doing something meaningful with her life.
"I can recommend you to an academy if you like?" Mr Synide suggests and I perk up with interest, my cloudy day immediately pierced by a single ray of sunshine.
"What academy?"
"It's called the 'Imperial Society'. Attendants range from nobility, to billionaires and politicians, to underworld heirs; like you. Sometimes, if sponsored, prodigies too talented for mundane society to properly utilise. Trust me, you'll fit in just fine," he says casually while my jaw hangs.
I'm sorry, did he just say NOBILITY?!
Prodigies?
While I didn't have an inferiority complex before, I definitely might start now. I'm going to be surrounded by people richer and smarter than me.
But, I doubt it's a bad as I'm making it... right?
Julius Varun
The head of the Underworld faction. Every year we have to pick a new person to initiate in the council after someone graduates and I have to choose who. The new girl with a bubbly personality doesn't sound like a good choice. She'd never get past the first trial. That's until I realise she has a gift.
Lie detector.
I have no idea how she does but every lie told, she can tell. She doesn't always call it out but she knows.
"She could be useful."
The 'Imperial Society' is not a place of equality, however, starting a war amongst factions is strictly prohibited.
And yet...
Julius has been wronged, now he's out for blood. He will have his vengeance and he going to use Selena to get it, even if he has to squash his pride and beg for her help.
