Seventeen-year-old Lena Hart has always been the quiet one. The background friend, the note-taker, the girl who watches other people's lives unfold while hers stands still. Senior year was supposed to be easy , coast through the last few months, graduate, and finally get out of her small coastal town.
Then Noah Brooks comes back.
Once her childhood best friend , the boy who disappeared without a word two summers ago Noah returns with a reputation, a camera, and eyes that look a little more tired than she remembers.
They fall back into orbit, hesitant and familiar. But there's something off about him. He's restless, taking photos of everything and everyone like he's trying to remember it all before it's gone.
When Lena finds an old list they made as kids - "Things to do before we leave this town" - Noah convinces her to finish it with him. Each thing on the list pulls them closer: sneaking into the lighthouse, night swims, writing letters to their future selves.
But as the list gets shorter, Noah gets quieter. And when she finds a note in his glove compartment. one she wasn't meant to see - she realizes he's planning to leave again. Only this time, not for college.
