Smiles are contagious, no matter if they're real or fake. The world became alight when a man put on a show for the public. But what was it all for? This is my entry for the Bethlehem contest presented by @TheCVCommunity. Word count: 1206

One snowy December morning, Nicola Meyer awakens to find a weathered ivory envelope on her doorstep. She could tell from the cursive script which was addressed to a Miss Elizabeth Claire and the vintage stamp that this letter wasn't from her time. Upon further inspection she could make out that the Monarch on the stamp was King George IV...meaning this letter was at least 50 years old. She was in awe at how this letter turned up that day, but she made a promise that day to find this woman. She couldn't explain this feeling but she just knew, deep down that this letter was important and Elizabeth deserved to know. This is a story with original characters, Chris and James. Chris is a young girl who just moved into her mother's old apartment but she can't pay it alone so she sends out a post saying how she needs a roommate when her old friend James comes and lives with her. But everything changes when they get a letter that was sent 50 years ago. This story takes place in 2025 after covid. The revered journalist, listens to hearts talk as an unexpected Christmas card fills up the atmosphere with joy and love, a bit of youth and maybe a daughter to quench the hearts wish. It's the 21st of December and Lebron James (believe it or not that's his name 💁🏻‍♀️ 😆), the head of the elves and Santa's special assistant has just told the elves, and everyone else that after several months of battling with his illness, Santa's heart has finally given out. It's four days to Christmas! What are they gonna do? There are kids whose chimneys need a' visitin', whose socks need a gift refill and whose wishes need to come to pass! Lebron has called on everyone: La Befana, The Tomten, Belsnickel, The Ghost of Christmas past and present, even Gryla and her bunch are helping! But it's harder than anyone thinks: Santa is Santa, a legendary legend, how can he be gone? if they save this Christmas, what's going to happen to the next? And the next? And the next? Would there be a new Santa?
