Fantastic short story retelling of developments in Biological Computing. Written as a basis for further development and world building, submitted as a university project. A man awakes in a cabin all alone despite partying with friends just last night. In search for help, he crosses a phone and is able to call a friend, yet the info he tells doesn't match up with what he knew. As he awaits to be picked up, he stumbles across a disturbing scene. Soon, he will discover a vapid, terrifying truth. ----- This is a oneshot written to be submitted into a cyberhorror contest that, unfortunately, had a 4k word limit. Thus I had to cut out a number of ideas I thought would've been great. Essentially meaning, this is a botched version of my original vision. The original vision isn't written, but I MIGHT write it if I feel like it. Still, enjoy the submitted version.
