In a time when the Earth was only darkness, the Mother Tree, Ton Maa, grew alongside her celestial kin to bring light and life to the vast sphere. From her falling leaves and twigs, the world was populated with creatures and humans, establishing a delicate harmony between the gentle and the fierce. But when a dark branch falls from Ton Maa's shadows, the Serpent of Destruction, Kgnewdam, is born, threatening to unravel the cycle of life. To restore balance, the gods must face their own creations, leading to a cosmic sacrifice that transforms the sky into a canvas of night and day.
This is a short creation myth I designed for my mythology class! It was incredibly fun to create, and it's one of the few stories I made that I would love to expand into a longer narrative--also one of the stories I love to re-read once in a while and related to my own culture.
