Saya has a special arrangement with a dragon. She gets tied to rocks. He gets the gold. They scam villages with fake sacrifices, overcooked rituals, and a convincing act of "damsel in distress." She's no maiden - just a fast-talking harlot with sharp instincts, flexible morals, and a talent for moaning on cue. He's no terrifying beast - just a very old, very gay, very arthritic lizard with a hoard, a temper, and joint pain from shapeshifting too much in the bygone ages. It's all going swimmingly until heroes start showing up. Cults get nosy. Other dragons get ideas. And Saya begins to wonder what exactly she's doing in a world where virtue gets sacrificed and livestock counts as treasure. A sword-and-sandals fantasy with scams, sarcasm, sensuality, and sheep.

"The operating room lights were blindingly white, leaving no room for shadows. On the cold metal table lay an infant who understood nothing, a surgeon clutching a scalpel, and a mother in the next room accepting a check and leaving without a backward glance. It wasn't about beauty; it was genetic engineering. Breaking the jawbone to reshape it, injecting pigments into the irises to alter eye color, and modifying vocal cords to produce tones unlike any human. This infant's body was carved and stitched hundreds of times to become the 'perfect human doll' sought by the 'Idol' Corporation. The infant's screams tore through the silence of the cold corridor-an instinctive cry pleading for a mercy that did not exist in the hearts of those in white coats. As the scalpel sank its first blade into that small body, the mother outside was tucking the money into her bag. She didn't hear his crying-or perhaps she pretended not to. She turned and walked away, never looking back at the fate of that child."

Though I wish I could tell you my writing is about rebirth, or bittersweet diary entries, or even just the feeling when the sun hits life perfectly-I can't. I can't because my writing features what an underdeveloped mind looks like when socially isolated and left to its own devices. My writing shows life through the filter of reality and nothing more.

It's a fact that there's no such thing as a utopia. The word breaks up into Greek that roughly translates to no place. Utopia is no place. Still, I tried to make one. I did pretty well, if I do say so myself. Of course, nobody ever focuses on the good. Never the intact parts, always the cracks. I am posting all the chapters here even though I'm still making edits (but that's why there's some inconsistencies -- sorry).
