The year 408 of the Himmelian calendar. War with Eroso-a conquering kingdom from the Eastern continent-looms on the horizon. Himmel, the Western Empire, is rocked by a wave of rebel attacks: weary of Regent Al-Kashmir's eighteen-year tyranny, the 100 million souls of the desert capital, Hamar, have risen up against the army. Yet, this civil war threatens to leave the Empire vulnerable to the dangers from the East. At the heart of this chaos stands Elan. A young orphan and the instigator of the rebellion, he remains determined to choose hope.
