Becky is heading west! Oh, but she gets kidnapped along the way! Will she escape in time to help her friend, Silent Raine?

A fantasy short story I wrote for a university English course inspired and based on a Slavic folklore tale. This story follows two brothers who are looking for something but have lost their way. However, one of them discovers a mysterious magical bird, and they resolve to follow it. It will be a long and difficult journey, that will take all of their wits and will, and they will face tests and have to make hard choices. What will they discover? Will it be what they are looking for?

Aden Dashner is thinking that he just might have superpowers. After an accident a week ago, he now seems to be stronger than he was before - like, superhuman strong. Aden's long-time bully, Dylan Danvers, was also in the same accident, and he seemed to get off clean with no powers, until a mysterious new super villain shows up in DC with fire at his fingertips and sticky fingers. And after finding out that Oliver Storm himself is DC's own savior in spandex, White Lightning, and that he wants Aden to be his sidekick, Aden didn't think his life could get any weirder. Not to mention that Oliver is dealing with his own problems. His best friend/super conspiracy theorist, Ian Thompson is getting suspicious of Oliver. Could he know his secret identity? On top of that, his girlfriend, Elise Howerton, has just seemed to figure out said secret identity. And the infamous villain, Andromeda, has finally seemed to have disappeared from Oliver's life. Well, that is until she decides to get close to one of Oliver's friends. What could this notorious villain want with Mary Thompson?

The breath I allowed myself to take hitches and suddenly I feel as though I'm going to vomit. My eyes rapidly look for the nearest escape - but he's just too close. Hands trembling, legs shaking, heart pounding, chest burning, I leap to a stand and take off as fast as I can, with no specific destination. Just. Get. Away. My boot catches on an uprooted tree, sending me face first into the dirt. I start thrashing around in the dead leaves on the forest floor - effortlessly trying to get up. But before I can, a heavy force pushes me down. A rough hand grabs my hair and lifts my head upwards, making me arch painfully under my attacker's weight. I was nearly kidnapped on my eighteenth birthday. Fun life, right? But now I've been recruited to a top-secret spy institute, because something really big and evil is starting to happen, and apparently, they need me. And then comes the boy. The handsome, smart, funny, sarcastic, overwhelming boy that has fallen head over heels for me. The thing is, I feel the same way. I am a princess. A damsel. But I am NOT your typical damsel in distress.

Mary Thompson is alive. How? Oliver Storm doesn't know. All he knows is that somehow she's come back and isn't the same as she was before. His best friend, Ian Thompson, doesn't know what to think. Olly was a superhero and never told even him. Plus, Oliver kind of caused the not-so-death of his sister. And Oliver can't forget about his sidekick, Aden Dashner, who is trying pull off being a superhero while also trying to figure out how to act in front of the girl he likes. Not to mention that a new super villain by the name of Beast is ragging havoc in the streets. Plus, another new super villain, Midnight, who shows up in the worst moment. Oliver is starting to wonder how on Earth he'll be able to keep the citizens of Washington DC from supporting the Remedist Party in the upcoming election, who are calling for the imprisonment of all supers, and keep his sanity at the same time. But one thing is certain, The Obstructer needs to go down. And with his mother's upcoming wedding, it seems he won't be able to find time to do anything, much less stop a mastermind from killing all of his friends in a misguided attempt to save the city from all supers.

She had been working as a scout for a gang of thieves for years. When her little sister passed away there was no other reason for her to stay so she escaped hoping to lead a righteous life, sort of. Unfortunately her days of breaking into places are not over yet. This story takes part in the ONC 2020 using prompt 8. (although I am not quite sure I am using it enough. I'm mainly using the part of the secret identity and sort of the damsel in distress part) I hope the few people that read this like it!

Whoever thought most princesses are hopeless and helpless damsels are kidding themselves. They may seem all caring and beautiful, utterly lost when it comes to battle and violence, but they are vicious. Beneath that smiling face is a conniving women, utterly consumed by her lust for power and riches. I doubt dragons would pick up those little brats if they could help it but, alas, those little whiny things always somehow piss them off. And this story has absolutely nothing to do with b*tchy princesses. Maybe it has to do with a peculiar dragon, a farmer boy, and DEFINITELY a princess, but not one that's a b*tchy. Not at all...
