Highschool. Her sophomore year, and the first one without her best friend too. Marietta Glossan (Marie for short) isn't exactly happy about any of this. She's looking forward to the end of the year already! But just a few days after school starts, a new kid joins the class. Leroy Barnes. She doesn't think too much of him at first. He was just your average, confident, 15-year-old boy, but something she did find interesting about him? He was a dancer who was apparently fascinated with the fact that she could sing, and vice versa, of course. Nobody at Rosemont Public School seems to care... Except the Garden Girls. Rose, Daffodil, Blossom, Periwinkle, and Ivy. Marie was already one of their favourite targets, and becoming friends with the weird dancing boy isn't exactly helping. Still, she doesn't think a little teasing here and there is as bad as it could be. Unfortunately, she's wrong. On top of being bullied by the Garden Girls, the whole school now believes that they're destined to be together! It's horrible for a while until the two come up with an idea, an evil, wonderful idea. They're going to play into it, but somewhere along the way, the lines between a performance and reality begin to blur as they get closer, leading up to the Christmas dance. Will they stand up for the Garden Girls and themselves, or will they break under the dirt being thrown on them? And most importantly, will they realize that they, and each other, are a little more than Not That Special after all?
