" Glimpses"
Her flight to Abuja was delayed again. Across the room, a lady complained bitterly to one of the airport staff why their flight was delayed for eight whole hours. "if I didn't come early the plane would have been rescheduled for an early flight. You guys have wasted my time and left me here doing nothing". She said furiously to the staff while they tried calming her down.Naomi watched the whole scene. Although not happy, she didn't say anything except for a few hours ago. She glanced at the time on her wristwatch, it was 11:58 p.m.Two minutes more to officially make it the worst birthday she'd ever had. She tucked her natural curls behind her ear and reached for her coffee standing straight in her bag, but froze midway as she slightly lifted up her head.
A man across the room, very tall, broad-shouldered, dressed in a black suit that didn't belong in the chaos of the airport fixed his gaze on her. Not curious, not admiring. Her heart kicked uncomfortably, and she looked away, pretending not to feel the weight of his fixed stare on her. But the man didn't give up staring. He approached her. She stood still hiding her fear with a straight face. "Naomi Adewale?" he asked with a deep voice, steady and too calm for someone who knew her name. In her mind "how did this one even know my name?" then she responded not smiling and not cheerful."Do I know you?"He shook his head. "No. But someone would like to meet you."Her instinct screamed "run!"
