However, Stiles never expected in his scientific travels that he would discover a large block of ice near Alaska, containing someone inside. Being the curious person that he is, Stiles of course had to take this finding back to New York, where his laboratory/work space was, showing off his finding to his colleagues and boss. His boss allowed him to investigate the block of ice to see how long the man had been frozen for, and that is exactly what Stiles does. After this, he manages to thaw out and melt the ice surrounding the man that Stiles assumed to be dead, but was proven wrong, much to Stiles' shock. He can't believe it.
