Suzy Bannion, an American ballet student from New York, travels to Freiburg, Germany to study at the Tanz Akademie, one of Europe's most prestigious schools of dance. Phillip Schaefer is an American scholar who arrives in Freiburg to study German history, hoping to find a sense of belonging and identity. Circumstances drive these two unlikely students together on an interconnected path. After a series of bizarre events and grizzly murders plague the Tanz Akademie, Suzy and Phillip begin to suspect that the Tanz Akademie is hiding something far more sinister inside its walls and that the school's history of occultism and mysticism hold the key to the nightmarish events unfolding. Between the madness and murder, a romance begins to bloom from two people of wildly different paths who find commonality through the surreal.

Bobby's babysitter, Jennifer, wanders around the Barrows mansion in her underwear in the middle of the night, before being chased by the Scissorman. However, the teenager doesn't sense the real danger and seems to treat it more as a game for the child.
