In modern-day Japan, humanity's faith is dying, and the demon Saturn corrupts souls into monsters called Hollow Fiends. Akira Hayato loses his sister to one of these creatures and joins the Covenant Blades, a holy order sworn to destroy the demons. Desperate, Akira becomes the vessel for Asmodiel, a powerful ancient devil, to fight Saturn. But Saturn kills Asmodiel and nearly defeats Akira-until God grants him the Spirit's power. Fueled by a miracle as humanity begins to pray again, Akira traps Saturn alongside Lucifer in a divine prison, bringing temporary peace to the world and setting the stage for future battles in the Devil's Universe.
