Divergent storyline after Alina and Mal find the stag. Alina is captured by General Kirigan, but he doesn't kill the stag immediately. There is a second chance for shadow and light. Im just really obsessed with shadow and bone books and dying to read six of the crows. however, since according to my parents, reading books is a 'waste of time and money' (how dare they!?), I unfortunately, cannot have those books. and uhh....also to mention that I lack the ability of stocking an entire story into a small paragraph or something so I'll try my best. Basically, this is an AU where alina and the darkling have a kid and (obviously enough like the other fics) the darkling doesn't know about her. Now, Ik how people get completely mad at this child trope but that child later on stan nikolai aka sturmhond aka prince perfect (yayy) so i guess its okay.... i just want this fic to be everything. so its a nikolaiXoc as well as a Darklina. forgive me if i write nikolai badly since i lack a sense of humor.

Well then this is for you. "In the Moonlight" is a shortish addition to Leigh Bardugo's original story. It presents what could have been between Alina and the Darkling if Mal hadn't found the stag that fast. The story begins after the Darkling leaves the ball and will end when Mal finally finds the stag.

Ivan silences the room with urgent news. Standing where General Kirigan does, with Fedyor at his side, he informs everyone of an ambush at the North- Eastern border. Though the camp was saved, it came at a cost. As Ivan reads the list of the fallen, the air grows heavy with grief. Then, with a black-sealed envelope in hand, Ivan delivers the final blow - he is now the acting General. General Kirigan was killed in battle on September 17th. No further details.
